Crude slate

Mostly Canadian crude, with some from the northern plains states, delivered through Enbridge. It ranges from light low-sulfur (38 API, 0.5% sulfur) to heavy high-sulfur asphaltic crude (21 API, 3.5% sulfur). As of fiscal 2016, the last year the company filed a 10-K.

crude in pipeline Kiantone Pipeline
Owned and operated by Kiantone Pipeline Corporation, a United Refining subsidiary; United is the only shipper. It delivers about 70,000 barrels per day and is the refinery's only crude line. Until 2020 it began at a connection with Enbridge at West Seneca, NY, 78 miles from Warren (10-K for fiscal 2016); it now includes the U.S. part of the former Enbridge Line 10.
Canada-U.S. border near Buffalo, where it takes over from the Westover Express Pipeline; 101 miles to the refinery crude source
crude in pipeline Westover Express Pipeline (WEX), upstream of Kiantone
The former Enbridge Line 10. Westover Express Pipeline Limited, a United Refining affiliate, bought it in June 2020 and has operated it since September 2023. It hands crude to Kiantone at the border and does not itself reach the refinery.

products out truck rack United Refining Co. - Warren (IRS terminal T-25-PA-1783)
The refinery's own rack: the IRS terminal is at the refinery's address. About 86% of the refinery's products left by truck in fiscal 2016. Common carriers haul most of it; a company fleet of eight tank trucks supplied about 18% of the Kwik Fill stations. All gasoline is stored at the refinery.

products out rail Rail loading at the refinery
About 14% of products left by rail in fiscal 2016; asphalt by railcar is the movement the company names. The Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad switches the refinery according to rail photographers' captions; no railroad or company document was read, so treat the railroad as likely, not confirmed.

products out terminal Company terminals: Tonawanda (T-16-NY-1457) and Rochester (T-16-NY-1474), NY
The company's terminal network stores distillate and asphalt. Which products go to each terminal from Warren, and whether by truck or rail, is not stated. Rochester is also connected to Buckeye and Tonawanda sits on the Buffalo products line, so either can take other suppliers' product.
Supplied from Warren by truck or rail; there is no products pipeline distillate asphalt source
products out terminal Company asphalt terminals: Springdale and Dravosburg, PA; Oswego, NY; Cordova, AL
The Pittsburgh-area terminals also take Gulf Coast asphalt by barge, which does not come from Warren.

Rates are pipeline line-haul transcribed from published FERC tariffs; every figure cites its tariff and item. Cost to serve (netback) adds origin spot price and destination fees. "Confirmed" links match a tariff delivery point to the facility; "same city" means the point is in the facility's city — plausible, not proof; "per research" means the facility's research profile names the pipeline as an outlet.
